Step 11. Use the spudger to lift the screen from the front panel. Place the spudger in the space directly left of the D-pad. The screen and the front panel is connected by a black tape that could rip if not removed carefully. You can use an iOpener or a hair dryer on the other side of the front panel in order to soften the black tape.

I just bought a GBA off Craigslist, model AGB-001. It's got a "hidden" screen voltage potentiometer (pictured here) that supposedly adjusts contrast, but the previous owner destroyed it and it's missing this component. Does anyone have information on a replacement part? Is this potentiometer bypassed in the AGS-101 screen mod?

This will include the whole top half of the GBA SP. The external plastic overlay on the top half of the GBA SP most likely will have scratches but the LCD UNDERNEATH WILL NOT. It is not a contact problem with the speaker: I tried 2 speakers and tested both of them with a multimeter (both are about 8ohms). I tried cleaning the power/phones port and there is no sound coming out of the heaphones either.

I think the new ITA screens are the way to go. They are brighter/more vibrant and have less ghosting than AGS-101 screens, but are authentic Nintendo screens that retain the same pixel grid look of the 101 screen. I am very happy with mine and its a very big improvement over the AGS-001 and even the 101.

Either way, no, you can't use a DS Lite screen as replacement for a GBA. Or at least I don't know how. The potentiometer thing, you should try it before you attempt something with your console, although there's repro screens being sold in AliExpress and other sites, but on my opinion a complete broken DS Lite is better than a AGS-101 SP.
